We would like to say a big THANK YOU! We are so grateful to all our friends that have helped us reach our goal for our France-Merrick matching grant. This grant will be used for many upgrades to our facility. The grant was also used to purchase a John Deere Skid Loader that will help us load and unload our trucks with pallets of food, bales of clothes and other items that are then used to help those in need. We will keep you informed of how we use the grant money. Thanks again for all your help. We continue to rely on donations to maintain our recovery program and to assist our community with food, clothing and other necessities. Please remember us in your 2012 giving.

Our Matching Grant Goal has been achieved. We appreciate your continued support.

Larry I, I, I...That is what my life used to be like before I accepted Jesus Christ into my heart. I want it now. I didn’t care about what others might think. I did what I wanted to do, right or wrong, and did it when I wanted to regardless of the consequences. This included my daily choice of drugs and petty thefts to pay for the drugs. I only took from stores not from other people. By doing that, I really didn’t feel that I was hurting anyone. I finally came to the point where I was tired of the way my life was going. Someone on the street asked if I had ever heard of the Westminster Rescue Mission. I just could not get it out of my head. I knew there had to be something to it. God was tugging at my heart. I now know why this happened. My life with Christ really started as a young boy going to church with my grandmother. I just didn’t know it then. The seed of God’s word was planted. I came to the WRM in 2005-2006, graduated, then went back to my old way’s. One of the things I looked for after I left was a pastor who was like my pastor at the mission. One who brought forth the Word of God. I needed to be free in Christ and with Christ. I could not find this. Instead, I should have just been still and known that God is in control. He will use anyone in our path to help us. I did not recognize that at the time. I was looking for the wrong things in the wrong places. The footer was dug. In 2011 I returned to the Mission. This time the concrete was poured. This time I have spent more time having a personal relationship with God through prayer and knowing if things are of him. God is now my best friend, my counselor, my comforter and I can do all things thru him who gives me strength. This is both physical and mental. I believe my foundation in Christ was started first in 2005. I also know that I need to keep adding to the foundation by staying faithful to God. The WRM has helped me in my Christian walk. I have learned through daily devotions and the pastors that come and teach us from around the area of Westminster. I have also learned from the staff that are compassionate about helping each person that comes here for help. I have learned to love others in spite of the flaws I see in others or myself. Because we are to love just as Christ loves us. And now I try to focus on the open door that God has for me rather than focusing on the closed door that is behind me.
